Laura Lu's Book Reviews
Check out the interview I did with Laura Fugere over at Laura Lu's Book Review.
Here's a snippet of that interview.
Wow, this is so exciting, my very first blog interview, and I get to interview V.R. Avent. When I told her I was going to figure out how the blog interviews were done, she told me to let her know if she could help in anyway, and here she is, granting me an interview. V.R. was the author, who suggested that I add a calendar with book release dates to my blog and she was so right about it adding something to the blog. Thank You, V.R., for your feedback, encouragement and for this interview.
(L) What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
(V. R.) HaHa! That's easy. My favorite thing about being a writer is that I get to justify my insanity by calling it "creativity" and "using my imagination." Hehe. But seriously, it has to be the fact that I get to explore my creativity and challenge myself to push the limits more. Like with the erotic lovemaking scenes for example—I never give any thought to what I'm typing. I simply let everything flow from my mind, no matter how smutty it is, and then polish it after I'm done with the entire lovemaking scene. And nine times out of ten, the scene stays in the story line, just as I typed it, which had a lot to do with the fact that it made me blush like crazy.

Review for Dark Light (Dark Paradise, #3)

✯✯✯✯✯
It’s not often that a bride and groom and family members get arrested on the couple’s wedding day. But that is exactly what happened to Abigail and Zach on what should have been the happiest day of their lives. The newlyweds both come from dysfunctional families and everyone seems to carry their own burden of pain and guilt. How can Abigail cope with the horror she experienced as a teen when no one wants to hear the truth. Zach also has nightmares and regrets things that happened to him when younger, but refuses to get help. Their passion is strong, but can their marriage withstand the traumas of the past that threaten to destroy their love? Author V. R. Avent certainly knew how to keep me on edge with this intensely gripping, highly emotional drama, Dark Light, Dark Paradise #3.
Although I did not read books #1 and 2 in this series, I didn’t miss out on the previous events that lead to Dark Light, Dark Paradise #3. V. R. Avent wrote her story so skillfully that I was able to comprehend the events of the past as they unfolded into the present. I was impatient to turn the pages as the story grabbed my attention with its very impressive beginning. I thought the writing was excellent and knew from reading that this author spent time developing her intriguing plot, characters and attractive book cover. It was a superbly written story that I really enjoyed. Please note this book contains erotic content.

What's Lost in the Dark by V.R. Avent is an erotic romance story about two people so completely in love but their pasts always keep getting in the way. Abigail and Zach had just started dating, but they were completely in love; they did not need more time to know that their love for each other was true. Each of them, however, has a past that just won't stay in the past. Abigail suffered sexual abuse and this messed her up, but what messed her up even more was the fact that her family did not believe her. Zach, on the other hand, has a few dark secrets of his own, plus an ex that just won't get out of his life. They are barely two months into the relationship, with exes still roaming in the background, and dark and twisted pasts. As if that is not enough, more drama just keeps flowing into their lives, plus a surprise they both did not see coming.
What's Lost in the Dark is a beautiful, erotic romance story about a couple struggling to reconcile their pasts so they can have a chance at a happy ever after. The main character of the story, Abigail, is a sweet girl who I could not help but fall in love with, sympathize with, and relate with throughout the story as she struggled to deal with all that had happened to her and the betrayal of her family when they refused to believe her. V.R. Avent created courageous and admirable characters that were willing to do their best to reconcile the past so they could move on with their future. The book strikes just the right balance between erotic romance and drama to create an enticing and captivating story.
Review for Lured In (Dark Paradise, #1)

Abigail ‘Abi’ Winterfield has a lot of baggage that V.R. Avent releases slowly over the course of the novel, but we know from the beginning that it is very heavy baggage that she’s carried around for most of her life. When we meet Abi in Lured In, she has finally begun making some progress towards happiness and, as these things go, she meets Mr. Sexy, also known as Zach. They both have their demons and that makes their coming together more than a little tumultuous, with constant ups and downs, arguments, and reconciliations. Throw in a little additional drama from their respective exes and it’s a wonder they even have time to fall in love.
Lured In has moments of greatness within it but it is also packed to the brim with a lot of unnecessary drama. Taylor and Gabe, Abi and Zach’s former flames are doing their best to ruin relationships that they themselves ruined in the first place. Then throw in Abi’s unsupportive family and her pathological submissiveness and I’m surprised the poor woman isn’t in a sanitarium. V.R. Avent does present an intriguing story filled with sensuous sex scenes and raw emotions that make you wonder exactly what will happen next. Thankfully, Abi has the amazing character known as her best friend, Carmen. Carmen has been there for Abigail since they were children and she’s finally getting her love life right with her on-again off-again love and Zach’s friend, Matt.
My only wish for Lured In is that it would tell the story of Zach and Abigail in one story because their story feels unresolved. Thank goodness their journey is enough to keep you invested!
